Mamma Mia Announced As Spring Musical

Natasa Franklin, Writer

Mamma Mia! has recently been announced as this year’s spring musical.

“There’s been overwhelming enthusiasm from the student body towards this play,” said Ms. Khoury.

Although the singing roles and the bold personalities of the characters will make this play difficult, it appears that Hammond actors are up for the challenge.

Tryouts were in January, and they consisted of a singing portion, led by Christopher Cockrell, and a speaking portion, led by Ms. Khoury.

The cast will be over 40 people who have the ability to “act, sing, and portray the characters with humor and honesty,” said Ms. Khoury.

Mae Williams, Rebekah Adams, Rosemary Angel, and Avery Lynn will be playing Sophie, Donna, Tanya, and Rosie respectively. James Runge will play Sam, Graydon Davies will play Harry, Josh Lipsitz will play Bill, and William Locke will play Sky.

This “funny, energetic, and life loving play” will be performed on April 5th, 6th, and 7th in the Bank of America Theatre.
