Kelsey Chow: Young Distinguished Alumna 2019
On Friday, Hammond will host actress and alumna Kelsey Asbille Chow. Chow, who graduated from Hammond in 2009, has gone on to establish an on-screen acting career in television shows such as One Tree Hill, Pair of Kings, and, more recently, Yellowstone. She has also appeared in several films, including the 2012 blockbuster, The Amazing Spider-Man.
“She was in every production that she could be in when she was here,” said Ms. Khoury on Chow’s Hammond performances. “She took off a semester…and did [One Tree Hill]. She’s got so much personality. She’s dedicated to doing the work that it takes. She doesn’t have shortcut. She’s thorough, and she’s inventive, and [she’s] always generous on stage.”
During Chow’s visit to Hammond, she will receive the Young Distinguished Alumni award, which is voted on annually by the Alumni Council. The award will be given to Chow at the Friday night football game. She will also address the Upper School during a special, extended assembly.
“I always like to introduce alums and then let them talk about their story and their path from Hammond beyond, because they lead so many different, interesting lives. And Kelsey has led a very interesting life thus far. It’s awesome to have her back on campus,” said Mr. Angel.
Update: After this article went to press, Kelsey Chow’s assembly was cancelled.
