Rachel’s Recap: The Bachelor, Episode One

Women and pilot Peter.

Although they will not admit it, many Hammond Upper School students are glued to the TV on Monday nights to watch one of the most addicting shows, The Bachelor. I, Rachel McCutchen, will be your guide through the 24th season of The Bachelor. Get ready for takeoff (pun intended).

I think all Bachelor fans can agree that when the quick, three-hour premiere finished, some women stood out more than others. Hopefully for us, this means more drama, which is all we really want. Aside from Peter finding a wife, of course.

Here are the contestants that were the most memorable:

Hannah Ann: She is 23 and from Knoxville, but all I could think about was her uncanny resemblance to Jessica Olsen in Disney Channel’s original movie Starstruck. Obviously you have to be bold on this show in order to make sure Peter remembers you, but this girl literally met with him three times in the same night which is three times too many. It was night one and she needed to share. But it did get her the “first impression” rose, so I guess it worked out? Although I’m uneasy about Hannah Ann, I can already tell she will bring drama to the house, and I appreciate that.

Jenny: She brought him a legit cow named Ashley for emotional support. Other than that she was completely irrelevant.

Victoria P: The 27-year-old made her mark as she shared her traumatic story of the time she got sick on the teacups at Disney World. Despite her battle with motion sickness, she got on a zero gravity machine and allowed herself to get sick to show her devotion to Peter. I respect that. She is also the contestant who confessed to Peter she had never received flowers from a boy before. Peter remembered this detail and made sure to pick her flowers, showing once again, just how perfect he is.

Tammy: She scares me. Tammy was a top contender in an obstacle course that would determine who got to fly one-on-one with Peter. According to Tammy, other bachelor contestant Kelley did not deserve to win. Tammy confronted Kelley about going straight through the set up cones, instead of around them, like she was supposed to do. After calling her a cheater, Bachelor fans can assume these two may not be on the best terms. Yay! More drama!

Madison: Alabama Hannah or Auburn Madison? Peter did admit he might have a thing for “southern girls.” Aside from Madison’s continuous use of the word “like,” fans love this top contender. On their first date Peter took her to his parents’ house to watch them renew their vows. Wow. Not only that, but she caught the bouquet his mother threw. Foreshadow? Maybe. After dinner, our romantic Peter took her to hear Tenille Arts play live. A few minutes later, Peter’s family showed up and prompted a dance party with the lovebirds. How cute! I speak for everyone when I say that was one heck of a first date.

Tune in next week as I recap episode two. Expect turbulence.
