Lower School Family Book Fair Night

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, the Lower School hosted the Book Fair Family Night. This event took place at the end of the Lower School’s weeklong book fair, which allowed students to buy a wide variety of books. The event, however, made reading more of a family affair.

At the event, students could participate in an open-mic night or demonstrate their talents in dancing and gymnastics. The Kiva became “The Rock ’n’ Roll Cave,” where groups of students performed impressively choreographed routines.

In addition to allowing students to share their talents, the event also allowed for students and families to learn about the age of the dinosaurs. In accordance with the “Jurassic” theme, there was  a table where second grader Preston B. provided details on any passerby’s favorite dinosaur. There was also a station where one could carve a dinosaur tooth out of a carrot, but many of the children were content with just eating the vegetables.

The library was also adorned with legitimate dinosaur fossils in accordance with the theme. Additional decorations included a “dino dig,” which was actually meant as a cover for what was described as a “little water leak.”

The fun family events were not the only attraction, as people enjoyed the book fair itself. The library was filled with families buying books. This event represented a terrific opportunity for students and their families to enjoy a fun spring evening and support a love of books.
